Introducing Lexia PowerUp Literacy
From November, Year 7 and selected Year 8 pupils will begin using Lexia PowerUp Literacy, an innovative program that provides personalized support to strengthen reading skills. The program adapts to each learner’s individual needs, focusing on three key areas:
Word Study – building stronger spelling, decoding, and vocabulary skills
Grammar – developing understanding of sentence structure and writing accuracy
Comprehension – improving the ability to understand and interpret a range of texts
These core skills are essential for success not only in English but across all subjects.
How You Can Help at Home
To ensure pupils get the most from the Lexia PowerUp Literacy program, we ask that they dedicate an additional hour each week to working on Lexia at home. This will be set as homework by the English Department.
In addition, pupils will continue to take part in a weekly spelling test, focusing on a specific spelling pattern to further strengthen their literacy skills.
