Menu & Free School Meals

Flint High School’s canteen is operated by Newydd Catering. They provide a wide range of food choices, created within and in support of The Healthy Eating in Schools (Nutritional Standards and requirements) (Wales) regulations 2013.

‘Our priority is to ensure that all menus provide balanced and nutritious food choices, as an important and integral part of school life.’
Eating healthy nutritionally balanced meals helps support a young person’s continued growth and development, boosting concentration, improving performance and active participation throughout the school day. The set meal price is £2.35 - you can see the menu by clicking on the image to the right of this text

Cashless Payment
Flint High School operates a cashless system where parents add money to students accounts online via the School Gateway App. We do not use cash registers in the canteen – instead the pupil selects their food from and takes it to one of the ‘Till Pads’, where a member of staff keys in what the pupil has selected and the amount is automatically debited from their account. Students can view their account balance at two points in school and at the till. Ordinarily, students are also able to put cash into their account by using one of the electronic Re-Evaluation Units, which are sited in two places in school. The student places their finger on the reader built into the machine, puts their money in and the account is automatically credited. There are many benefits of cashless catering, such as reduced queuing time and parents can request information if they have concerns about their children eating in school.
