Why choose our sixth form Partnership?

We have high expectations of our students and have a well-qualified team of staff who know how to get the best from all learners. The destination choice is wide: university, apprenticeship, training or employment. The quality of qualifications gained will give students a passport to a bright future. We have unique features in this area. St. Richard Gwyn has an inspiring and inclusive environment, open to all and respecting diversity. Flint High provides a close and caring sixth form, strong on tailoring its offer to the individual. The close proximity of the sites provides you with an exciting offer of excellence through our collaboration as ‘6’.

Outstanding Care, Support and Guidance
It is of paramount importance to us that our students are known and treated as individuals and we do our best to help them continue to develop into mature, confident young adults with compassion and respect for others. The ‘6’ team is accessible, welcoming and has an open-door policy for parents & guardians to contact us directly with any concerns. We ensure that students are well supported in their studies and other aspects of their life in the Sixth Form. Students still have access to a range of support workers for example: learning coaches, Careers Wales, counselling and Sixth Form Supervisors. Estyn recognised the good pastoral care on offer in both schools in their most recent inspections and the positive impact that it has on students’ learning, progress and well-being.

Outstanding Results
Sixth form students in our ‘6’ partnership have high aspirations and this is reflected in all students achieving the Level 3 threshold. Performance has been well above national averages in the last three years with pupils achieving a high points score that is above the Welsh national average. 29.2% of all grades were an A or A* in 2019 and 52% of all grades achieved were A*-B Students have the opportunity to be part of the Welsh Government’s Seren Network—supporting our brightest students to fulfil their academic potential and secure places at the UKs leading universities.

We fully support students in their onward pathway onto university, apprenticeship, training or work.
