LLS

What is LLS?
We deliver the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, however the partnership between the school and LLS provides much more. We are passionate about affecting the life opportunities of our students and communities we serve. We believe that we deliver the best Sport Education programme in the UK and take students to incredible destinations regardless of starting points or postcodes. We engage, inspire and enable students to genuinely be the best version of themselves. The academic study is about gaining the qualifications and knowledge for the “next step” but we are hugely committed to creating unique opportunities and experiential learning far beyond the confines of the classroom.

Our students are expected to complete 1000 hours work experience in a variety of different settings: Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Grassroots Clubs, Special Schools, Elite, multi-generational and a specific field of interest.

We work with local delivery agencies such as Aura and Flint Town United and we support the amazing work at Maes Hyfryd. We have established ourselves as the 'go-to' organisation for Sporting Partnerships and development and are working across multiple sports from football to cricket and basketball to disability training through YST to support ALN. We have also welcomed Welsh first language students onto our course enabling Flintshire Welsh Language primary schools to benefit from coaches able to teach through the medium of Welsh.
Unique Experiences

Our students are expected to work extremely hard whilst on programme, so we believe it is essential to reward them over the course of the two years with unique and meaningful experiences. Below are some of the experiences the students will take part in:

LLS Residential

During the first 3 weeks of term our North Wales students enjoy a residential experience at LLS’
82 bed accommodation in South Liverpool. The trip is geared towards the students getting to know one another and they enjoy water sports, free running and MMA in a fun packed 48 hours.

Guest Speaker Series
We believe it’s important that our students are inspired whilst being introduced to different pathways within the sports industry. We expose our students to leaders in their field to engage, motivate and develop a comprehensive professional network. Here are just some of our Guest Speakers our students from North Wales have enjoyed:
  • Michael Beale: Rangers FC, First Team Coach
  • Brian Barwick: Former Chief Executive FA and BBC Sport
  • Rachel Finnis-Brown – Former England Women’s Goalkeeper
  • Dave Galley – Former Liverpool FC, Physiotherapist
  • Guillem Balague – Sky Sports Journalist
  • Rory Smith – New York Times, Sports Journalist
  • Andy Grant – World’s Fastest Single Leg Amputee over 10km

Belfast Takeover
LLS deliver our programme in partnership with Mercy College in Belfast and have facilitated trips for our Flint students where they had the opportunity to coach to local children and apply for scholarships in the USA and Canada.

Madrid
Every year students from each of our locations are given the opportunity to visit Madrid, Spain. This gives students an amazing opportunity to develop relationships with other LLS students from different parts of the UK, helping to enhance their professional network. Whilst in Madrid LLS 'Takeover' the PE Department at Kings College deliver coaching sessions to children from all over the world. They also enjoy visiting Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.

Global Coaches Conference
We have an ambition for our students to become Global Coaches once they finish the programme which entails paid employment ranging from 1 week to 12 months. The first step in becoming a Global Coach is attending our annual Global Coaches Conference, where international employers from USA, Canada, Finland, China, Sri Lanka, Norway and Qatar showcase the employment opportunities on offer. After the presentations the students have their coaching ability assessed by the employers with 90% leaving with contract offers.

Previous venues for the GCC include Old Trafford and Anfield Stadium:

We place huge emphasis on the destinations our students achieve when they complete the programme.  The most popular destinations include University, Apprenticeships and Global Coaching. Below are some of the LLS graduates from Flint High School who have gone on to amazing outcomes, careers, and opportunities through our partnership with the school. We are incredibly proud of these students and believe we have been a key component in their journey.
